I need a better glare of doom

Anyone want to hit the TKTS booth some evening and catch a random show? There are a million things I want to see, most urgently Light in the Piazza (the Journal called the composer the next Sondheim), Glengarry Glenn Ross (Liev Schreiber!), Musical of Musicals, Ave Q, and Wicked although the last two won't be at TKTS.

The original cast of Rent, including Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal, are doing a benefit performance. Too bad tix are $1k a piece. oops. In contrast, Marin Mazzie and Douglas Sills *obligatory swoon* can be seen doing a concert of On the Twentieth Century for a mere $500. If I'd been willing to pay that to see a show, I'd have gone to see Julie Taymor's Die Zauberflote for my birfday. Then again, I DID once fly to LA for the sole purpose of seeing Ragtime. Um.

Speaking of decadence, anyone up for a crazy lunch some Friday in August? I have the next five off for moving-related reasons.

Ooooh, if I was in New York, I'd definitely be there for all of those shows. Damn being in another country! *shakefist*

I'm holding out for the Rent movie, which has all of the Original Broadway Cast in it except for the original Mimi and Joanne. Last I heard, it's supposed to be out in theatres Nov. 11.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that movie too.
